Long Beach and the rest of Southern California are expected to receive some much-needed rain over the next week, beginning Friday.

Temperatures are expected to dip into the mid- to high-50s by Friday, with lows in the 40s.

There is a 30% chance of rain Friday, a 50% chance of rain Saturday and a 30% chance on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. A slight chance of showers will come Monday and Tuesday, with winds expected.

Rain is then likely again Wednesday to Friday, according to the NWS.

Long Beach so far this rain year, which begins Oct. 1, has received just 1.56 inches of rain, which is 29% of normal for this time. Last year, the city has received 7.7 inches of rain as of Jan. 20.
