The DUI Saturation Patrol conducted by the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) on Friday netted three DUI-alcohol arrests, it was announced.

The St. Patrick’s Day patrol was conducted between 6:00PM and 2:00AM, in an effort to deter incidents caused by impaired driving.

The high visibility enforcement effort resulted in 39 vehicle enforcement stops, six Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST) completed, three DUI-alcohol arrests and 16 citations issued for unsafe driving.

Drivers can download the Designated Driver VIP (DDVIP) free mobile app for Android or iPhone to find nearby bars and restaurants that offer incentives to designated sober drivers. The app also includes a tab to call a commercial ride sharing service.

LBPD will conduct a DUI checkpoint this Saturday, as part of its ongoing commitment to lowering deaths and injuries on our streets and highways.

The DUI Saturation Patrol was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, reminding everyone to ‘Report Drunk Drivers – Call 9-1-1.
