Long Beach City Councilmember-elect Robert Garcia and I co-founded the Long Beach Post, Inc. in February 2007. Our company comprises the lbpost.com and the LBPOSTSports.com providing daily commentary, original news and sports coverage on local, statewide, national and international issues impacting Long Beach, California.

As previously reported on December 5, 2008, Robert officially released himself from all of our company’s editorial and business decisions to run for public office. Since December 5, 2008, I have served as the sole publisher and decision maker on all editorial and business decisions.

On April 7, 2009 Robert Garcia was elected to the Long Beach City Council. As previously reported on April 10, 2009, due to Robert’s new position as a public official, we began the process of redefining his formal corporate role and investments.

Later today, Robert will be installed as a Long Beach City Councilmember. Therefore, effective immediately, the Long Beach Post Inc. announces the following structural corporate changes:

1.  All of Robert’s assets relating to the Long Beach Post, Inc. shall be placed in a blind trust where Robert has no knowledge of the holdings of the trust and no right to intervene in its handling at any time.

2.  The Long Beach Post Inc. will no longer be accepting advertising revenue from the City of Long Beach or any of its agencies.  Current city advertising contracts will not be renewed once they expire.

Finally, we will continue to cover elected officials, including Robert, via our news, commentary and sports operation without reservation or unfair consideration at all times.  Furthermore, every news story that mentions Robert or the City Council will include a disclosure with a link to the above information.

The coming months will be an exciting time as we continue to grow and offer new and exciting services for our community. On behalf of the Long Beach Post, Inc. family, I want to wish Robert the very best in his future endeavors in public service and thank him for his two years of involvement in growing this company.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at [email protected].

Thank you.
