The city of Long Beach is ready for its close-up.
This Saturday will mark the beginning of the Say “CHEESE” Long Beach Summer Contest, held by community activist Justin Rudd over a 24-hour period beginning at noon this Saturday, the 26th. Any and all photographers are encouraged to participate for the chance to have their work displayed in an outdoor exhibit the following Saturday, August 2. Winners will also receive a variety of cash and prizes, with Grand Prize of $250 and a color print in the Grunion Gazette.

Rudd also kicks off another of his popular events tonight – Long Beach Losers, which encourages weight loss through teamwork and of course, a little competition.
Entrants must assemble a team of five to compete over a 12-week period, meeting to be weighed every Wednesday. Cash prizes are awarded based on greatest percentage of loss.
The first meeting is tonight, with initial weigh-ins from 5:00-7:30pm at Runners’ High on 5338 E. Second Street.
