Joining forces with Girlfriends – a local weekly young women’s meeting group – Councilwoman Suja Lowenthal will host the first ever Girlfriends Conference this Saturday at the Grand Event Center from 7:30am – 4:00pm.
Hundreds of parents and their daughters are expected to attend the conference, which will feature workshops and discussions to help young women with life skills such as decision-making, safety and finance. The main goal is to help the girls reach their full potential as they grow.
“It is my philosophy that empowerment through action, awareness, and mentoring forms the foundation for young women to build a balanced sense of self and to set a positive course for the future,” said Coucilwoman Lowenthal. “Girlfriends, as an agent of change, can facilitate this empowerment process and help young women know themselves and maximize their life choices.”
Additional speakers include Mayor Bob Foster, parenting coach Carolyn Gatzke and motivational speaker Tim Piccirillo.
Tickets are $25 per person, and more information can be found here.
