The Long Beach Police Department is still on the hunt for a suspect who last night robbed a pizza delivery man at gunpoint, was shot at by an officer and then fled on foot.
Officers responded to an armed robbery report Sunday night at 7:52PM near 10th St. and Atlantic Blvd., said an LBPD spokesperson. The suspect, a black male armed with a handgun, robbed the delivery man of his wallet, pizzas and cellphone then fled the scene on foot. Police were able to locate the suspect and during the ensuing foot pursuit, an officer involved shooting occurred, though it is unknown if the suspect was struck by the gunfire.
After officers lost sight of the suspect, LBPD’s SWAT team was activated and a perimeter was set up, bounded by Martin Luther King Boulevard on the east, Atlantic Boulevard on the west, 7th Street on the south and Anaheim Street on the north. Although the suspect was believed to be contained within the established perimeter, he was not located and remains outstanding.
No officers were injured during the incident and the investigation remains ongoing.
