Officers responded this past Monday to a residence on the 3400 block of Colorado Street at approximately 11:20pm in regard to two men acting suspiciously outside a residence. According to a nearby resident, the two men were attempting to crawl through a window of a home in which the owners were already there after a passerby noticed their bicycles parked strangely in the driveway. There has been a recent series of crimes in the neighborhood, prompting heightened awareness.

A perimeter was set up and the area searched but the suspects were not located, as it is assumed they fled on their bikes before authorities could catch them.

Although no one was caught, the Long Beach Police Department spokesperson Lisa Massacani told the Long Beach Post, “We cannot stress enough the importance of residents keeping an eye out and calling in suspicious activity in their neighborhoods, as is what happened here. That gives the officers the probable cause to stop and question suspicious people, and also sends the message that neighbors are on alert. Furthermore, citizens noticing an increase of suspicious activity in their neighborhoods can call their local substation and request an extra patrol of their neighborhoods anytime.”
