The center prioritizes sustainability in its design and will be a hub for Conservation Corps projects, community gatherings and youth programs.
The center will act as a base of operations for young conservation corps members to help lead environmental improvement projects, such as tree planting along the Los Angeles River and recycling materials for the city and the state.
The city agreed to partner with Conservation Corps of Long Beach and Camp Fire Angeles to begin implementing a vision plan for the park that could bring a slew of upgrades to Deforest Park.
