The launch is scheduled for 10:21 p.m tonight, and depending on visibility, night-time rocket launches from Vandenberg can often create dazzling light spectacles that can be seen across the Southland and much of Southern California.
The problem occurred during ignition of the Electron rocket’s second stage, the company said in a statement.
The Delta IV Heavy rocket is now scheduled to launch at 5:31 p.m. Thursday from Vandenberg Air Force Base in Santa Barbara County if all goes as planned.
Launches from Vandenberg have traditionally created spectacular light shows in the skies over Long Beach and Southern California.
Tonight’s launch is being carried out by United Launch Alliance, a joint venture of Lockheed Martin and Boeing.
