Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom led the pack of 27 candidates vying to replace Governor Jerry Brown by garnering over 33 percent of the votes tallied through Wednesday. He will face off with Republican businessman John Cox who placed second with 26.2 percent of the vote.
