Five companies were honored in San Pedro this week by the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach for their efforts to fight against harmful emissions at the 6th Annual Clean Air Action Plan Air Quality Awards.
A public meeting will be held Wednesday night to allow Long Beach residents to provide comment on an updated proposal to widen the 405 in Orange County that details traffic impacts in Long Beach and calls for the city to share in a portion of mitigation costs.
Though Florida takes an overwhelming share of the amount of cruise embarkations in the U.S.–a staggering 60%–California’s chunk of the share has largely been driven by Long Beach, the only California port to make the top 10.
The westbound Pier T offramp from Ocean Blvd. is now permanently closed and will be fully demolished during a closure of Ocean Blvd. this weekend. Removal of the overpass is necessary as construction begins on Terminal Island for the new $1.1M Gerald Desmond Bridge project.
