4:15pm | Long Beach police said Tuesday afternoon that three suspects who burglarized a Long Beach home Tuesday morning were taken into custody shortly after committing the crime thanks to a witness who saw them removing items from the home and called 9-1-1.

All three suspects, a 20-year-old male, a 19-year-old female and a 25-year-old female, are from Long Beach. The identities of the two women and one man are not being released at this time, however, because police believe the trio might be connected to various other recent burglaries, according to information provided by Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.

There is a “strong possibility that these individuals are responsible for other burglaries in the area,” Pratt said.

Police received the call at about 10:42 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, from a resident who said he had witnessed two people moving electronic equipment from a residence and loading it into a nearby vehicle in the 1500 block of east 37th Street, Pratt said.

Officers were dispatched to the scene and, based on the description of the suspects and the vehicle provided by the caller, identified the vehicle and two of its three occupants as the suspects near the intersection of Olive Avenue and Market Street, she said.

The office pulled the vehicle over, and during the course of their investigation, the officers were able to determine that the occupants were responsible for the residential burglary and placed them under arrest, Pratt said.

Each suspect was booked for residential burglary. The 25-year-old female was also booked for six separate failure-to-appear warrants, she said.

The officers returned the stolen items to their owner, Pratt said.

The department is commending the resident who called 9-1-1 to report the crime.

“It was the willingness of that caller to get involved that helped us take three burglars off the street,” said LBPD North Division Cmdr. Galen Carroll in a statement. “This is a good example of what can happen when neighbors look out for one another.”
