A Police Department press release confirmed that all three gunshot victims – including the alleged gunman – have died from their wounds sustained at Long Beach Memorial Hospital on Thursday.
At 11:47am, police responded to emergency calls at the hospital shortly after pharmacy employee Mario Ramirez approached and shot Hugo Bustamante. The 46-year-old Bustamante was taken to the emergency room but pronounced dead a short time later.
Ramirez, 50, then shot fellow employee Kelly Hales in the hospital parking lot. Hales, 56, was also taken to the emergency room and was pronounced dead several hours later.
Ramirez then turned the gun on himself in front of several bystanders. He died at the scene.
