A three-year-old girl was transported to a local hospital in critical condition Saturday after she fell through a window of a third story apartment in North Long Beach, police said.

Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers dispatched to the 6600 block of Hammond Avenue at about 1:52PM, said LBPD spokeswoman Marlene Arrona on Monday.

The girl was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Her current condition was not immediately available when inquired about Monday. Police do not receive updated medical conditions unless an individual dies, according to Arrona.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene to “ensure a thorough investigation was conducted due to the victim’s age and seriousness of her injuries,” Arrona said. However, the initial investigation found that the incident appeared to be a “tragic accident,” Arrona said.

No further information is currently available, and the investigation is ongoing. We will update this story as we learn more.
