Want something to feel good about tonight?

Look no further than the Candlelight Walk Against Domestic Violence, in honor of domestic violence survivors, co-hosted by Su Casa and the Women Shelter of Long Beach. It begins tonight at 6:00pm at the corner of Promenade and 1st Street in downtown Long Beach. Other groups involved include End Abuse Long Beach, Project SAFE, the Police Chief’s Women’s Advisory Group and Interval House.

Earlier this week, we covered Interval House’s weekend workshop to end domestic violence. The discussion was aimed at reaching young men, so it’s worth noting that another involved group tonight includes Weed & Seed, a central Long Beach group that helps men and boys between the ages of 14 and 24 get involved in their community. Their involvement is a perfect example of ways to educate young men about domestic violence, which has plagued Long Beach homes for some time.

The theme of the night is to shine light on the problem, because domestic violence thrives in darkness and silence.
