UPDATE 10:26am | Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster will deliver his 2011 State of the City address this evening from the Center Theater at 300 E. Ocean Blvd. The speech will begin at 7:00pm.

All of the available tickets are spoken for, but you can watch the event live at this site or MayorBobFoster.com.

Mayor Foster is expected to address the city’s future financial situation after yet another year of budget difficulties. One topic to watch out for is the Mayor’s view on newly-elected Governor Brown’s proposed state budget that could eliminate Long Beach’s enterprise zones and redevelopment agency.

Organizers are encouraging attendees to arrive early. Community organizations will be hosting booths in the lobby beginning at 6:00pm to talk about getting involved in volunteering. Free parking is available on Seaside Way just south of Ocean Blvd.

December 14 2:07pm | Residents of Long Beach will again have the chance to attend Mayor Bob Foster’s annual State of the City address for free this year, when he delivers it on January 11 at the Center Theater.

The Center Theater is located in the Long Beach Performing Arts Center, downtown. Last year, the event took place in the same building but in the larger Terrace Theater. Organizers advise that reservations for tickets be made early because the seating capacity is smaller this year.

Anyone interested in attending can reserve tickets by calling 562.570.5089 or visiting MayorBobFoster.com.

The Mayor’s speech last year was an optimistic look to the city’s financial future, predicting steady recovery after Long Beach was hit hard by the recession. “I believe we have a bright and prosperous future and the state of our City is healthy and sustainable,” he said. “I am proud of the kind of people we are and how we live together. I would choose to live in no other place.”

More information will be available soon.
