12:35pm | The Long Beach Police Department has issued a traffic alert warning local motorists to expect heavy traffic conditions on the southbound 710 (Long Beach) Freeway both Saturday and Sunday due to the city’s ongoing signature racing event.
The LBPD suggests that drivers plan ahead and allow for extra drive time, especially during the early morning and late afternoon hours, due to the influx of visitors that will be heading into and out of downtown Long Beach for this weekend’s 37th annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.
Additionally, motorists are reminded that Shoreline Drive, which is being used as part of the Grand Prix’s racetrack, is closed between the 710 and Alamitos Avenue and will not reopen until Monday, April 18.
