Three people were arrested Thursday morning in connection with a shooting and a pair of armed robberies that took place over the span of a few hours in Long Beach, authorities said.

Police say the string of crimes began just before 2 a.m. with a robbery in the 400 block of Atlantic Avenue near Poly High School. When officers arrived, two victims told them they had been robbed of their personal property by two men armed with a handgun and pepper spray, the LBPD said.

Both suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction before officers arrived.

The shooting and second armed robbery occurred sometime around 3:14 a.m. in the 700 block of E. Shoreline Drive. A man and a woman were in the area when two assailants approached them on foot, police said. One of the suspects pulled out a gun and threatened the man, shot one round at him but missed, according to the LBPD.

After taking the woman’s car keys, both suspects then kept the man at gunpoint until they found the woman’s car, police said. The two suspects then stole the vehicle and fled the scene, authorities said.

Police located the victim’s vehicle shortly after in the 1600 block of Pacific Coast Highway in West Long Beach with two men, a boy and a woman inside, the LBPD said.

As officers approached the vehicle, one of the men fled on foot. The other man and the boy were subsequently taken into custody, police said. The woman in the vehicle was not involved in the incidents and was not arrested, according to the LBPD.

The man who fled on foot eventually returned to the 1600 block of Pacific Coast Highway where police were still investigating and turned himself in, the LBPD said.

Police identified the suspects as Joshua Lima, a 19-year-old Oceanside resident; George Wills, an 18-year-old Oceanside resident; and a 16-year-old boy from Altadena, whose name they did not release, as is typical with juvenile suspects.

Lima was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, carjacking, robbery, assault with a firearm and receiving stolen property, police said. His bail was set at $100,000, inmate records show.

Wills, was booked on suspicion of carjacking, robbery and receiving stolen property, police said. His bail was set at $50,000.

The 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of firearm-related crimes, robbery-related crimes and theft, police said.

The relationship among the three suspects is unknown at this time, police said.

Evidence relating to the incident was seized at the scene, including a handgun near the vehicle and items reported lost by the victims of the robberies, police said.

Detectives are investigating this incident, the LBPD said.
