12:45pm | Two United States Post Office locations in the city of Long Beach are on a list of about 3,600 USPS retail locations nationwide that the federal agency announced Tuesday it is reviewing for potential closure.
The Post Offices at 1 World Trade Center in downtown Long Beach (90831) and 101 E. Market St. in North Long Beach (90805) could soon be shuttered.
Postmaster Gen. Patrick Donahue said in a statement that in some communities, the Post Offices could be replaced by smaller, automated stations the USPS has dubbed Village Post Offices.
The USPS is being forced to close a number of its more than 32,000 locations due to insufficient customer demand.
At right, the U.S. Post Office at 101 E. market St. in North Long Beach may soon be closed by the U.S. Postal Service due to decreased customer demand.
