3/9/16 at 11:30AM | The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s bomb squad has been dispatched to the Long Beach Airport, where police found unattended luggage Wednesday morning, causing the airport to go on lockdown, according to airport officials.

A Long Beach Police Department airport officer discovered the carry-on luggage unattended outside the Southside Historic Terminal on the curb at about 10:00AM, according to airport spokeswoman Stephanie Montuya-Morisky. An LBPD K-9 unit inspected the luggage and told airport officials the incident needed to be addressed.

A 400-foot perimeter has been established in the area where the public is not allowed in, she said. Airport officials are asking the public to contact airlines for updated information on incoming or outgoing flights.

Passengers going into the airport may still park in Lot B.
