The United Cambodian Community of Long Beach (UCC) has announced several changes to its Board of Directors.

Local Entrepreneur Weston LaBar will serve as Chair of the Board, while Po Satia Chhim was appointed to vice chair, Vic Nol was appointed to secretary and Mary Ellen Mitchell was appointed to the position of treasurer.

A new Executive Director is expected to be chosen for the board in 2015, following Executive Director Sara Pol-Lim’s decision to step down after eight years in the position. Susana Sngiem, program developer for UCC, is currently acting as Interim Executive Director.

“The UCC has come a long way over the past few years and is now ripe to undertake more efforts to aid one of Long Beach’s most important ethnic groups,” reads a statement from UCC. “The Board of Directors will be updating and modernizing the organization’s policies and procedures and will soon begin a new, formal recruiting process for new board bembers to add to the team of dedicated Directors. This new leadership plans to take UCC to the next level- a glimpse of which was seen at the last sold-out UCC Gala celebrating Cambodia’s Golden Era. The Board and organization are excited to find the organization’s next energetic and inspiring executive director to lead UCC during these exciting times.”
