2:36pm | Today at 7:00pm, members of AOC7 invite the public to a candlelight vigil for Lashown Fils, the 26-year-old man who was shot on the 200 block of West 14th Street on Wednesday, January 11. The vigil will be held at the intersection of Walnut and 10th St.
AOC7 stands for Anaheim, Orange, Cherry & 7th St., and according to the group’s Facebook page, “is a group established to bring the community together to talk about issues we face on a daily basis within our communities.” The group meets every Wednesday from 7:00 to 8:00pm at 1601 east 10th st, and also hosts community clean-ups.
January 11, 3:36pm | On Wednesday, January 11, at approximately 3:55am, Long Beach Police responded to a shooting call in the 200 block of W. 14th Street, which resulted in the death of a male adult.
When officers arrived, they discovered the victim, identified as 26-year-old Lashown Fils of Long Beach, down in the street. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a few hours later.
Detectives do not believe the victim was a gang member. A motive for the shooting is unknown and the investigation remains ongoing. No suspect information is available at this time and detectives are hoping that anyone with information or anyone who witnessed the shooting, who hasn’t already spoken to police, will come forward.
