2:33pm | Long Beach has been placed under a Flash Flood watch and the Los Angeles Times reports that waterspouts and tornadoes are very possible as an ocean storm between Catalina and the Long Beach coast is approaching. KCAL9 is reporting that central Long Beach areas such as downtown surrounding Long Beach Boulevard and 7th Street near Redondo will be hit hard in a matter of minutes.

1:25pm | Several days of heavy rains and continuous showers should come to an end by tomorrow, meteorologists say. Southern California has been pelted by several inches of rain since Friday, but the sun should be back out tomorrow.

In the past 24 hours, nearly one and-a-quarter inch of rain fell in Long Beach alone. There were rumblings that a Tornado Warning may be announced late on Tuesday night, but never materialized. Winds are expected to remain strong, however. Roads were slick and some flooding occurred at intersections across town during the sweeping storm, but no major damage or accidents were reported. Drivers are advised to simply slow down, especially if approaching large puddles.

Flash flood warnings have been called in large parts of Los Angeles.

The City will resume its normal street sweeping schedule on Thursday, as well.
