3:25pm Wednesday | After several days, two people reported missing in Long Beach have been found and are safe, according to police.
A missing Long Beach resident named Miguel Palacios, 56, has been located when the Harbor UCLA Medical Center notified his family this morning that Palacios was taken to the facility by paramedics. Palacios suffers from dementia and needs anti-rejection medication stemming from a recent liver transplant, so it was vital that he be located soon. The man wandered away from his Long Beach home a few days ago and was reported missing. It is not clear where paramedics discovered Palacios, or how he got there.
A missing woman from Kansas City, who was visiting family in Long Beach, has been found. Recently, the LBPD unveiled a new Safe Reunion/Long Beach program that provides security bracelets for Long Beach residents that are prone to wander, specifically those suffering from cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s, dementia or autism. The department is partnering with emfinders.com to provide the tracking bracelets free of charge to qualifying families in the event that their loved one cannot be located. The bracelets transmit a cellular signal that can be tracked by law enforcement. The service will make it easier for police to locate missing individuals if they wander from home or become lost.
