8:37am Wednesday | Authorities from the Long Beach Police Department and SWAT team apprehended the man after a standoff that lasted several hours. He did not respond to attempts to communicate and eventually officers used dogs and tear gas to enter the apartment, finding the man in the bathroom. More information will be available shortly.
11:34am Tuesday | A man has barricaded himself in a North Long Beach apartment with officers and SWAT surrounding him after the suspect reportedly was seen firing several rounds from a handgun into the air this morning, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The man is currently inside a residence in the 5400 block of Linden Avenue and authorities are advising everyone to stay away from the area. Neighbors have been evacuated.
The original incident occurred around 8:30am today when officers responded to a call of a male suspect firing shots into the air.
