UPDATE 9:59am Wednesday | The second man convicted of a 2008 shooting that killed two teenagers and injured one more was sentenced to 198 years to life in state prison on Tuesday.

Superior Court Judge Mark Kim sentenced 22-year old Jonzel Latrel Stringer for his conviction on two counts of second-degree murder and 46 counts of attempted murder. Stringer’s co-defendant, 19-year old Izac McCloud, was convicted by a separate jury back in September and sentenced to 202 years to life in state prison.

The shooting occurred during a January 2008 birthday party at the Lakewood Masonic Lodge when more than 400 people showed up to the small venue and a fight ensued. Stringer came outside and told McCloud to shoot into the crowd. A 15-year old and a 17-year old were killed, while one other teen was shot in the leg.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorneys Karen Thorp and Emily Spear of the Long Beach Branch Office of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

A 19-year old Long Beach man will spend the rest of his life in prison after receiving a sentence of 202 years to life for a 2008 shooting that killed two teenagers during a birthday party at the Lakewood Masonic Lodge.

Izac McCloud shot 10 bullets from a 9-mm semiautomatic handgun into a crowd of more than 400 young people, killing two and injuring one more, and in September was convicted of two counts of second-degree murder and 46 counts of assault with a firearm. Long Beach Superior Court Judge Mark Kim handed down the sentence on Thursday. A report from the Press-Telegram notes that McCloud laughed during the announcement and did not accept responsibility for the crime. His father also reportedly began yelling at the families of a victim during the proceedings.

McCloud and co-defendant Jonzel Stringer attended a birthday party at the Lakewood Masonic Lodge in January 2008, when Stringer began fighting with people inside. He came out and ordered McCloud to fire into the crowd. Two people died, 15-year old Breon Taylor and 17-year old Dennis Moses, and one was injured. Stringer will receive his sentence in November for his conviction on two counts of second-degree murder and 46 counts of attempted murder.
