UPDATE Thursday, January 20 3:45pm | Long Beach Police received an anonymous tip that the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Gladimir Jesus Gamez, was at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Atlantic Avenue in the City of Long Beach. Police immediately responded to that location while detectives obtained a search warrant.
The detectives then served the search warrant at a unit within the complex, located Suspect Gamez inside, and took him into custody without incident.
Long Beach Police Chief Jim McDonnell stated, “I would like to thank the community and the media for coming to the aid of the Department when the safety of a 3-year-old toddler was uncertain. It is this continued partnership that ultimately benefits the safety and well-being of us all.”
Earlier today, LBPD detectives presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office who filed one count each of kidnapping, parental abduction, spousal abuse and grand theft against Defendant Gamez. Gamez also had two outstanding warrants for failing to appear and for violation of a court order. He is currently being held at the Long Beach City Jail on $1,050,000.00 bail.

UPDATE January 16, 3:00pm | LBPD investigators received information that the child was at an address in Wilmington. Detectives responded to the location, found the child safe and unharmed, and he was reunited with his mother.
The suspect Gladimir Jesus Gamez is still outstanding. He is approximately 5’7” tall and 150 pounds with short brown hair and brown eyes and last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and white shoes. He does not own a vehicle, and is known to frequent the area. LBPD considers the suspect dangerous.

UPDATE January 16, 10:45am | This afternoon LBPD Chief Jim McDonnell will hold a press conference to announce that Long Beach Police worked through the weekend to locate the toddler that had been abducted by his father Friday night.
January 16, 7:00am | Long Beach Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 3-year old boy who was kidnapped by his mother’s ex-boyfriend, who is his biological father.
On Friday, January 14, 2011, at approximately 11:06pm, Long Beach Police officers responded to a residence in the area of 4th Street and Walnut Avenue in regards to a call that a 3-year-old child had been abducted.
When officers arrived, they learned that a woman had just returned home and the father of her child, who she had a restraining order against, followed her into the residence and an argument ensued. The suspect assaulted the woman and the child, but she was able to get the child into her vehicle in an attempt to flee. The suspect was able to remove the child from the vehicle and was last seen running northbound on Gaviota.
The suspect is identified as 24-year-old Gladimir Jesus Gamez, and he was last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt with a hood, blue jeans, and white shoes. He is a male Hispanic, about 5’7” tall, 150 pounds with short brown hair and brown eyes. He does not own a vehicle, and is known to frequent the area. He should be considered dangerous, and LBPD urges anyone who may have information on his whereabouts to call 911.
The victim, 3-year-old Ethan Jesus Gamez, and he was last seen wearing a long sleeve brown t-shirt with white stripes, a green vest, blue jeans, and brown shoes. He stands approximately 32-32” tall, and weighs approximately 40 pounds.
