After losing its lease, the Bixby Station for the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has been forced to close and relocate, officials said Wednesday.

The last day for the station, located at 4580 Atlantic Avenue, will be Friday, February 13 when the Post Office closes at noon.

An emergency relocation of Post Office Box service will take place at the North Long Beach Station, located at 101 East Market Street. The relocation will take place over the Presidents’ Day weekend, and service will resume on Tuesday, February 17 at 9:00AM.

“This move is a temporary solution to provide uninterrupted service while a search for a permanent location takes place,” said USPS spokesman Richard Maher. “Post Office Box numbers and ZIP Codes will not change. Letter carrier delivery operations currently located at Bixby Station for the 90807 ZIP Code will relocate to GMF Station at 2300 Redondo Ave. There will be no impact on mail delivery and this move will be transparent to customers.”
