On Monday, the Coronor’s Office identified Mark Allen Conway, 62, as the man found dead inside a Long Beach home fire Saturday night.
Will Nash of the Long Beach Fire Department said that the blaze was reported in the 5400 block of Peabody St. at 11:36PM and that when the first unit arrived four minutes later, the fire was “well-involved.” It appeared the fire started in the kitchen, although the exact cause was under investigation, Nash also said.
Conway was found in the living room area and was pronounced dead at the scene. A cat was also found dead in the home. It is unclear why the man did not get out of his home, but it appeared there were no smoke detectors inside the home, said Nash.
