10:00am | Authorities have arrested a 32-year old Long Beach man in connection with a bomb that detonated in the early hours of November 5 in a Wrigley Neighborhood alley in Long Beach. The Long Beach Fire Department has released the video above which shows the suspect walking away from the device just seconds before it explodes.

The suspect enters the video above at about the 0:44 mark, and the device explodes at 1:30.

A case against Garrett Lengyel (pictured right) has been presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office for prosecution, after search warrants served at his home by the Long Beach Fire Department Arson team, Long Beach Police Department Violent Crimes division, Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad and Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) recovered evidence linking Lengyel to the crime.

Lengyel was arrested on November 11, just six days after the explosion in the video above.

Sleeping residents were terrified and later told investigators that these types of explosions had been happening more frequently. They provided crucial details and information that led to the arrest of Lengyel. Authorities are still interested in additional information about Lengyel and encourage residents to report any tips to the LBFD Arson Hotline at 562.570.2582.
