The Vincent Thomas Bridge will be shut down in both directions overnight through most of this week.

Because of maintenance work, the full bridge will be closed each night from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting Monday, Jan. 13 through Thursday, Jan. 16, according to Caltrans.

Detour signs will be posted, but, “Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to use alternate routes or avoid the area,” Caltrans said in an announcement.

Westbound lanes of the bridge will also be shut down Saturday starting at 6 p.m. before reopening the next day at 11 a.m.

Eastbound lanes will close from 11:55 p.m. Saturday to 11 a.m. Sunday.

Crews will be replacing the bridge’s finger joints during the closures, Caltrans said.
