More than 50 businesses will participate in a job fair at the Long Beach Convention Center on Wednesday, hosted by Long Beach Councilwoman Lena Gonzalez and Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network, her office recently announced.

The event will allow residents to connect with local employers looking to hire, including Arrowhead, DIRECTV, Lowes, Molina Healthcare and Tilly’s.

“As a policymaker, I’m working to increase access to quality employment for First District residents,” Gonzalez said statement. Her district has a 19 percent unemployment rate, according to her office.

Other services scheduled to be offered include job search assistance, employment workshops, and resources provided by a network of local nonprofit agencies and by Pacific Gateway—which is the city’s public workforce agency.

Participants should bring resumes and other employment documents, her office said. They should also be ready for on-the-spot interviews.

“The Long Beach Job Fair will be an important step in connecting people to good-paying jobs here in their own City,” Gonzalez said in a statement.

The event will take place Wednesday, June 24, at 9:00AM at the Long Beach Convention Center, Seaside Ballroom, 300 Ocean Boulevard, with attendees recommended to enter through Seaside Way.
