An ongoing street repaving project will reduce traffic on West Anaheim Street this weekend to one lane in each direction, officials said.

The repaving area, on West Anaheim Street from the I-710 to Ninth Street, will take place from 7PM Friday through 5AM Monday and will detour traffic to Pacific Coast Highway, according to a statement from the Port of Long Beach.

It will also close West Anaheim to cross-traffic at all intersections except at Santa Fe Ave. Cross-traffic at Harbor Ave. and 9th St. will be detoured to Santa Fe, officials said.

The closures are part of the West Anaheim Street Improvement Project, which began in September 2013 and is expected to be nearing completion, authorities said. Throughout the project, businesses along West Anaheim are open and operating.

In addition to roadway surfacing, the project also includes improvements for bus stops, the median, sidewalks and access for the disabled, as well as landscaping.
