Just over a week into his new job as Long Beach City Manager, Pat West is already making moves.
Yesterday, West announced three changes in City Management positions: Acting Financial Management Director Lori Ann Farrell; Acting Community Development Director Michael P. Conway; and Airport Manager Christine Andersen.
Michael Conway, Community Development’s Property Services Bureau Manager, will serve as the Acting Director of Community Development and Acting Executive Director of the Redevelopment Agency. The position was vacated today when Pat West became Long Beach City Manager.
Lori Ann Farrell, City Controller, will serve as Acting Financial Management Director. The position was vacated when Michael Killebrew accepted a similar position in Dana Point.
Public Works, one of the largest departments in the City, encompasses the Long Beach Airport, an enterprise agency. City Manager West is taking this opportunity to elevate the position of Airport Manager so that it reports directly to the City Manager.
Due to the important issues surrounding the Airport’s improvement projects, West has appointed Christine Andersen to the position of Airport Manager. Ms. Andersen’s in-depth experience in environmental services, civil engineering, and airport management will ensure that she can provide the leadership needed to successfully guide the Airport through the process.
