2:26pm | After a few weeks of delaying construction due to weather, crews will move forward with resurfacing parts of Ocean Boulevard in downtown Long Beach this weekend, resulting in delays and alternate routes from this Friday through Sunday.
Westbound lanes on Ocean Boulevard west of the World Trade Center will be closed beginning at 8:00pm this Friday until 8:00pm this Sunday. Traffic from downtown Long Beach heading to San Pedro and Terminal Island will be rerouted north along Shoreline Drive. There will be detour signs and traffic controls to direct drivers to alternate routes.
The project, intended to repair and upgrade the roadway, is being managed by the Harbor Department and coordinated through the Long Beach Public Works Department.
Eastbound lanes were resurfaced last month. Future plans to stripe the new roadway will close both eastbound and westbound lanes in the coming weeks.
Don’t worry, big-rig trucks are not allowed downtown and will not be rerouted there due to the closures.
