A Long Beach woman was arrested Sunday night after police say she stabbed a man near the city’s East Village neighborhood.

Rubi Martinez, a 24-year-old Long Beach resident, was taken into custody on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence, and driving under the influence, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Her bail was set at $50,000.

The attack occurred at around 6:18 p.m. in the area of Linden Avenue and Third Street, police said.

Police say Martinez and the man, who was not identified, were inside their residence arguing when Martinez stabbed him in the upper body with a knife.

She then fled the scene in her vehicle but police later located her, conducted a traffic stop in the 1100 block of East Broadway, and took her into custody, authorities said.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel, meanwhile, transported the man to a local hospital for treatment, police said, adding that his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The investigation remains ongoing, police said.
