An elderly woman was rushed to a hospital in critical condition early this morning after firefighters rescued her from a two-alarm fire at a Bixby Knolls home.
Crews responded shortly before 12:30 a.m. to a single-story home on East Goldfield Avenue, just south of East San Antonio Drive, said Long Beach Fire Capt. Jack Crabtree.
When they arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames, he said.
Crews began to douse the blaze and entered the house to rescue the trapped woman, Crabtree said. She was taken to a hospital.
Investigators were working to determine the cause of the fire.
