A woman in Long Beach was fatally struck early Sunday morning by a hit-and-run motorist who was driving a truck, a police officer said.

Officers were dispatched at 1:30 a.m. to the 5500 block of E. Second Street in Naples. They found the woman down in the street, said Officer Ben Hearst of the Long Beach Police Department.

Authorities said the woman on the center median of 2nd Street near Tivoli Drive when she fell into the No. 1 lane of eastbound 2nd Street.

“The suspect vehicle was seen stopping before continuing eastbound, colliding with the victim and fleeing the scene,” officials said in a release.

Paramedics rushed her to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Hearst said.

The woman is identified only as a 22-year-old resident of Anaheim.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as a white work truck, possibly a Ford F-150 with a silver tool box in the bed and emblem on the driver’s side.

Police had no physical description of the motorist.
