Police are investigating after a woman was stabbed in her home in the 4600 block of Long Beach Boulevard Thursday night.

When officers were dispatched to the home near Scherer Park around 9:47 p.m. Thursday, they found the woman with non-life-threatening injuries to her upper and lower body. According to the Long Beach Police Department, a man that the woman knew entered her home and the pair got into a verbal argument. The dispute escalated when the man struck the woman with a blunt object and stabbed her in the lower body, police said.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, and there were no other injuries reported, according to the LBPD.

The woman was transported to the hospital by Long Beach Fire Department personnel, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
