6:00pm | A woman was rescued after falling into the swollen Los Angeles River on Saturday, according to the Long Beach Fire Department Urban Search & Rescue unit.

Local lifeguarding crews made contact with the victim just downriver of Wardlow Avenue, evaluated her on scene and transported her to Saint Mary’s Medical Center in stable condition. The victim said she slipped and fell into the river and was first spotted by Fire and Lifeguard units near Del Amo, as she struggled to keep her head above water.
