Woman Accidentally Shot in Hand

A woman was shot in the hand after a gun was accidentally discharged at a Long Beach residence Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Santa Fe Avenue on Monday, December 28 at 4:28PM, according to Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Marlene Arrona.

The female victim, with a gunshot injury to her hand, was located by police.

“The preliminary investigation indicates the incident may have been an accidental discharge,” Arrona stated.

Police said the woman accidentally shot herself. Paramedics transported her to a local hospital to treat her non-life threatening injury, according to Arrona. 

The investigation remains ongoing.
