A woman was shot while getting out of her car Friday night and a man said he was shot in Long Beach, the LBPD said.

On Friday, officers responded to an alley located on the 6300 block of Paramount Boulevard regarding a shooting. Officers at the scene found a woman who was shot, police said. She was transported to a local hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to her lower body.

Police determined through a preliminary investigation that the woman was struck by gunfire as she exited a vehicle that had other people inside, however, no one else was hit.

It was not immediately clear where the gunfire came from or what the motive for the shooting was.

Later that night, officers responded to a hospital in the City of Torrance where a man who was suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his upper body said he was shot while he was in Long Beach, police said.

The man said that he was shot in the area of Long Beach Boulevard and Willow Street, according to police. The man did not provide officers with information on a potential suspect and no evidence of a crime scene was located, according to the LBPD.

Police spokesman Juan Gomez said the incidents are currently under investigation.
