The woman fatally struck by three cars on the 710 Freeway at 1AM Sunday has been identified as 57-year-old Susanna Ruiz of Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County Department of Coroner.
Woman Struck by Three Vehicles While Attempting to Cross Freeway; One Man Arrested
10AM | A Long Beach man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after being involved in a multiple car collision on the 710 Freeway in Long Beach on Sunday that killed a woman, officials said.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) was notified that a female pedestrian had been struck on the northbound side of the 710 (San Diego) Freeway near Anaheim St. at about 1AM, CHP officials said.
Three vehicles struck the woman while she had attempted to run across the northbound lanes of the freeway. She was struck by a 2004 Toyota Tacoma, a 2005 Toyota Scion and a 2010 Toyota Camry. All three vehicles pulled to the right shoulder of the freeway, north of Anaheim Street. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota Tacoma, Long Beach resident Eric J. Nagao, 51, was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving.
