Police say a woman was killed when she was struck by a pickup truck Wednesday night while trying to cross the street in Cambodia Town.

The crash happened at about 10:25 p.m. at the intersection of East Anaheim Street and Alamitos Avenue, according to Long Beach police.

Police said a 1997 Chevrolet Sierra pickup truck was heading westbound on Anaheim when it struck a woman who was in the roadway outside of a crosswalk.

The woman died at the scene, police said. Her identity was withheld pending family notification.

Speed, distracted driving and impaired driving were not believed to be contributing factors in the crash, police said.

The death marks the 48th traffic death reported by LBPD this year, according to a review by the Long Beach Post. Last year, the city had 40 traffic deaths and 36 traffic deaths in 2023.
