September 13, 9:10pm | The Press Telegram is reporting that World Famous V.I.P. Records is closing at the end of October after nearly 33 years of business. The iconic music store opened its doors on January 15, 1979 and since then has impacted the careers of some of the world’s most famous rap artists such as Snoop Dogg, Warren G and the late Nate Dogg.

V.I.P. records owner Kelvin Anderson told the Press Telegram: “I knew this day was coming, as far as the physical part of the music business, but you walk around in denial — in a daze. I’m in a daze right not. But hopefully God’s got another plan — a better plan,” he said. “It’s been real tough for the last few years, maintaining, but we are way too far behind financially now to come back selling CDs.”
