2:49pm | This Saturday, wreaths will be laid in honor of the men and women who gave their lives in service to America during a special ceremony at Rosie the Riveter Park and Interpretive Center military memorial in Long Beach.
Upon a recent visit to Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C., City Councilmember Gerrie Shipske was inspired to participate in the annual, nationwide Wreaths Across America day, and is asking the public to submit the names of friends and family who deserve to be remembered for their ultimate sacrifice.
“I hope you agree with me that Long Beach should honor the women and men who gave their lives in service to our country during this holiday season,” Schipske said in a recent press release.
Schipske is asking anyone interested to click here and submit the names of those they wish to be remembered. The event takes place this Saturday at 10:00am and will also show off recent improvements to the park that include walking paths dotted with historical references.
