Crews began constructing the new 515-foot tall bridge towers for the Gerald Desmond Bridge replacement Monday, completing their initial foundation pour at 8:00AM this morning. A total of 3,200 cubic yards of concrete were poured in and around 2,240 square feet of rebar, completing the important “pile cap.”
Port of Long Beach truck drivers currently awaiting a ruling from the California Labor Commissioner on their wage and hour claims have entered their 11th week on strike against their employer, Carson-based Pacific 9 Transportation. The workers claim $6 million total has been withheld from them in wage theft.
The Intermodal Container Transfer Facility (ICTF) Joint Powers Authority’s (JPA) governing board has canceled its meeting, originally set for Tuesday, September 15 at 6:00PM at Silverado Park School Hall, the Port of Long Beach (POLB) announced Wednesday. The port will send notice of a new date when the meeting is rescheduled.
