☕️ Come meet the reporters covering your neighborhood and sip a little coffee this weekend. As part of Local News Day, the Long Beach Post staff will be at Wrigley Coffee from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Get all the details here. Have a cup on us while supplies last.

Cool Cat Collective on Retro Row is waging war against so-called “A.I. slop” with an army of hand-drawn cats.

They’re also trying to reduce the stray cat population.

This Saturday, the cat-themed gift shop will hold its second annual Cat Zine festival, featuring roughly 250 zines — mini magazines — from artists all over the world.

One zine features cats illustrating different Filipino foods. Another, called “Cats are Shapeshifters,” has cats taking the shape of everyday objects.

Those and plenty more will be on display this Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Part of the proceeds go toward a nonprofit to foster cats and reduce the local stray cat population.
