This Saturday, June 7th, is the reception for the always wonderful Members’ Exhibition at the 2nd City Council Art Gallery. Primarily known for themed shows that feature California artists, the gallery’s founder and Executive Director, Cheryl Bennett, tirelessly cultivates an atmosphere of respect for and celebration of both the artist and the work.
This year’s show features work by more than 60 artists, and the reception, which runs from 6 to 9 PM, will feature live music and, once the sun goes down, a thrilling performance of Sirena Serpentina Tribal Fire Bellydance.
An important part of the event is a Community Pot-Luck. The grill will be lit, so please feel free to bring a dish to share.
I can’t express just how wonderful, and important, this gallery space is. If you’ve never been there before, please take this opportunity to go. The gallery is located at 435 Alamitos Avenue, just South of 5th Street. You can visit their website: www.2ndcitycouncil.org.
