This month’s Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA)’s Live After 5 will tout the especially intimate vibes of the hotel venue during The Hotel Series later this Thursday evening. Expect to hear free live music at two of downtown Long Beach’s well known hotel bars, where you can kick back and chill out, drink-in-hand.
The Black Market Trust will kick off the evening at SIP at the Renaissance Long Beach Hotel with a two-hour set starting at 5:00PM. Described by the DLBA as having a Sinatra-like sound, this five-person jazz band combines “the sounds of the great American crooners and vocal groups with the romantic Eastern European fire and energy of gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt.”

“I like the intimacy that a hotel provides as an entertainment venue,” said Tokotah Ashcraft, organizer of the Hyatt Centric portion of the event. “Centric is a gem in DTLB.”
Ready to fill the Hyatt Centric at the Pike Long Beach from 7:00PM to 10:00PM with her laid back R&B sound is neo-soul goddess Mickey Taelor, set to headline the event. The artist is back from SXSW and ready to charm Long Beach with her soulful softness. Not to mention, she just released a new work alongside Grammy-winning producer Willie B.

“Mickey was brought to my attention by the kids from Fight Club,” said Ashcraft. “I really love the vibe and soul in her music. I thought DRTYWRTZ was the perfect fit alongside her on this line up. He has such a soulful voice and monster stage presence.”
DRTYWTRZ, as well as NiceGuyxVinney who just signed onto Soulection Records, according to the DLBA, will accompany Taelor’s sound with their mesmerizing beats.
